You do not need to have everything worked out before contacting me. These answers cover the questions that are most useful at the beginning.
How do I know whether you can help with my course?
Send the course name, code, syllabus or topic list. Course titles vary between universities, so the course content is more useful than the title alone.
Which students do you tutor?
I work with secondary school students, university students, students taking mathematics inside another degree, engineering and science students, statistics and quantitative methods students, and adults returning to mathematics.
Do you tutor university mathematics beyond calculus?
Yes. My teaching background covers broad areas of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics and data science. For a particular course, send the course outline so I can check the topics before confirming that I can help.
Can you help with engineering and science mathematics?
Yes. I can support mathematical methods used in engineering and science courses, including calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, multivariable and vector calculus, probability, statistics and modelling where they are part of the course.
Can you help if maths is not my major?
Yes. Many degrees include a compulsory mathematics or quantitative course. I can work from the package of topics your programme requires, whether that includes algebra, calculus, matrices, probability, statistics, optimisation or modelling.
What if I am returning to maths after a long break?
You can start by telling me what you are preparing for. We can identify the foundations that matter for your next course or goal and review those at a suitable pace.
What should I send before the first lesson?
A course outline, topic list, lecture notes or a few representative questions are useful. If you are preparing for an assessment, include the date and the topics it covers.
Do I need to know exactly what I am struggling with?
No. It is enough to tell me the course and what currently feels difficult. Sometimes the main problem is an earlier prerequisite, and we can identify that together.
How do online lessons work?
Lessons are one-to-one. We work from the mathematics you are studying, use explanations and worked examples, and then give you opportunities to solve suitable problems yourself.
Which platform do you use for online lessons?
Lessons can be held using Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Jitsi Meet. We can use the option that works best for the student.
How much do lessons cost?
Lessons are 60 minutes and prices vary by country of residence. The Pricing page shows the current price for a single lesson and a four-lesson pack.
How do I pay?
After I confirm that I can help with the course and we agree on the lesson option, I send a secure Stripe payment link. Payment is completed before the lesson.
What happens after I pay?
Stripe sends the payment receipt. Dr. Peter Maths sends a separate email with the next steps, and we then confirm the lesson time and online meeting details.
How long is a four-lesson pack valid?
Four-lesson packs are valid for 2 months from the date of purchase. Any unused lessons expire after that period.
Can I reschedule or cancel a lesson?
Yes. Rescheduling with at least 24 hours' notice is free. With less than 24 hours' notice, 50% of the lesson fee applies. A missed lesson without notice is charged in full. If there is a genuine emergency, contact Dr. Peter as soon as possible.
Can a parent make the enquiry?
Yes. For a secondary school student, include the year or grade level, curriculum or exam system, current topic and any upcoming assessment.
Will you complete assignments or assessed work for a student?
No. Tutoring can help a student understand concepts, practise methods, prepare for assessments and develop their own solution process. I do not complete graded work on a student's behalf.
What happens after I submit the enquiry form?
I read the course and topic information you send, check whether the request fits my tutoring areas, and reply to discuss the next step. If you have a syllabus or course outline, you can also send it when we are in contact by email.
